You are here -> CAFAP Home -> Foster and Adoptive Parent Recruitment

There are more than 6,000 children in the care of the state Department of Children and Families due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. The Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents and DCF have joined together to recruit foster families to provide safe, caring homes for children as DCF and the courts plan for the children's futures.

We are seeking a significant number of parents to care for children of all ages and cultural backgrounds, as well as sibling groups and children with complex medical needs.

The qualifications for becoming a foster or adoptive parent include a strong sense of caring for children, outstanding character and background, means of financial support, a safe home environment, and a willingness to work with DCF and birth parents on behalf of the children. Applicants of all cultural backgrounds and income levels, whether living in an apartment or a house, or married or heading a one-person household, are invited to discover foster and adoptive parenting.

If you would like to learn more about helping Connecticut's children, please complete our online form below or call us at 1.888.KID.HERO. Thank you for your interest in Connecticut's children!
