The Association maintains a fund, comprised of grants and donations, to be used to provide support for foster and adoptive children within their communities. The Association will accept requests from foster/adoptive parents, social workers or the children themselves to purchase such items as school rings, prom gowns, gymnastics lessons, sporting equipment and any other item that a child might need to be better integrated into the community in which he/she lives. The rules are few:
- The item or service must be one for which DCF would not provide funding via their normal allowable expense payment system.
- The Association will not pay the entire cost of the item or service. The foster family and or child MUST provide some contribution. Each contribution will be individualized based on the request.
- If the expenditure is approved, the item or service will need to be billed to the Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents. The Association will not provide reimbursement to individuals for these expenses.
To make a request, please call us at 860.258.3400 during regular office hours.
